THE MIRROR OF TRUTH AND FACING THE LAW OF HONESTY
A fairy gifted a magical mirror that always tells the truth to a man. Delighted, he shared it with his friends, who enjoyed exploring their reflections. However, looking inside the mirror, he could see his flaws and shortcomings. This mirror was like a light shining on his dishonesty and issues with integrity. The mirror forced him to face the Law of Honesty.
By looking into the mirror, he realized that these flaws, first and foremost, hurt himself. He tended to rationalize his deceptions but discovered that the result damaged him the most. As a countermeasure, he began to explore his authentic interior reality. Eventually, he promised himself to only speak with complete honesty and integrity with his heart’s desire. Step by step, his integrity improved. Every day, he looked into the mirror, exploring distorted areas of his perception. Over time, his reflection became shining and clear.
This parable tells us that honesty and integrity belong to the highest deeds we humans have. On a universal scale, not following our hearts and thus falling out of honesty and integrity hurts us the most. By deceiving ourselves, we can never live our lives fully. Only by stepping into our true, honest selves can we bring our best version in service to the bigger scheme of life.
HONESTY AND INTEGRITY ARE PART OF OUR HIGHEST DEEDS
We can justify almost anything we do. Even though this means deception and dishonesty to the higher laws of spirit, our mind can still make peace with it. However, a part deep inside us always longs for integrity in alignment with the higher good. When dishonest to others, we first and foremost betray this part within us. Therefore, this act needs no “punishment” as it is punishment itself. This statement is similar to: “Bad people don’t need to go to hell; they are already there, and that’s why they act the way they do.”
Once we explore and express our inner harmony and stop lying and deception, we tap into integrity toward ourselves and others. We can practice this by asking ourselves, “What would Love do” in any situation? Through this alignment, a higher truth opens up for us. It feels as if we realigned with Creation itself. As soon as our whining, angriness, sighs, and hints make place for honest expression, we replace all the misleading, manipulation, and deceit with our true feelings and needs. We start acting with the highest integrity and become authentic in all areas of life.
The first and second steps, Calcination and Dissolution, of the Alchemical Transformation process help us free ourselves from all impurities of the mind and ego and suppressed emotions and dramas. Once we purge all these obstacles, we express and live who we truly are.
